The Intelligent Robots and Machines Laboratory at San Diego State University is engaged in research and teaching in several areas of robotics and intelligent systems. These include applications to robots and systems using techniques such as:

• Fuzzy logic
• Genetic and evolutionary algorithms
• Machine Learning
• Neural networks
• Intelligent multi-agent systems
• Dynamic system and control

A number of sponsored research projects have been conducted in the laboratory. Among them are:

• Autonomous Robotic Person Following sponsored by DOD center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology and SPAWAR.
• Intelligent navigation and control of Mars rovers sponsored by NASA
• Robotics helicopter for monitoring of natrual reserves sponsored by Blaskers Science and Technology Programs, San Diego Foundation.
• Genetic path planning of rovers sponsored by NASA JPL and Lockheed-Martin

The laboratory also supports several computer science courses and Ph.D. and M.S. theses.
